Default Do Any Sig's have a safety??

I was looking at a few different Sigs (as im sure you will know by this question, I am still learning about guns) -- mainly the 220, 226, 229 and 2022....i noticed none had a safety either on the trigger or on the slide. Is this true of all Sigs? do none of them have a safety?

hope someone can help --- thanks!
Merry Christmas!!

Hi,

Sigs have internal safeties and the decocking lever.
Classic Sig are not meant to carry cocked, like a 1911 or so and with the decocking lever it is very safe to drop the hammer.

The only Sig pistols I know of, that have an external safety is the Sig 1911, the P22x X-Series (exept the allround version).

Like most DA/SA pistols....the safety is the deliberate loooong pull for the first shot. But outside of a Beretta and maybe some other DA/SA guns, there is no complete lock-out of the hammer or trigger. SIG's have been proven safe if properly holstered.

Sig P238 has a external safety. Of course it is a miniature 1911 type.

Don't they have a SAO model that can be carried cocked and locked? Besides the 1911? I don't know for sure, I browsed their site a while back and thought I saw one, I could be (and likely am) mistaken in that.

Not sure...they have DAO/DAK...same first long pull for safety applies.

Does anyone know of other guns (outside of Beretta) that offer a safety which completely lock out the hammer or trigger?

Thanks for everyone for the help and answers!!

Most if not all FNH handguns have external safetys and decockers I believe.

M & P can be bought with external thumb safety combined with a Glock style on the trigger. If that is a priority a Springfield XD or XDM is probably the safest pistol on the market IMO, it has a trigger (Glock) safety and grip safety. It's different than a thumb/lever style like a Beretta. A Ruger SR9 and SR9c have both Beretta style thumb safety and Glock type on the trigger.

I'm pretty certain you can get a SAO Sig P220 with a thumb safety. Great gun, BTW.

There are other really good metal guns with thumb safeties (since that's what you seem to be preferring). These 4 would be far and away my favorites:

CZ 75b
Browning Hi-Power
1911 (various brands)
Sig P220 SAO

Most CZ 75 and BHP will be 9mm. Most 1911 and P220 will be 45acp.
