I had a Beretta 8045 Cougar and it was a great pistol. Most definitely take a look at the Beretta or Stoeger if you can find one. They have a rotating barrel which is interesting. I found recoil a bit more snappy than in a 1911 type of pistol, but not uncomfortable. The ergonomics were excellent.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”Samuel Adams

I love my Kahr CW-9. What about the CW-45? 6+1 capacity at about 20oz in a compact package. I saw one at a local gunshop for $495.

HA! Beat me to it Texan. Was reading through all the posts and thought I might be the first one to suggest a Kahr... oh well. I was thinking about a Kahr PM-45 (sub-compact) but have been leaning toward the CW-45 lately.
