Default And from the dead it rises...

Found this thread on a Google search.

I'm very interested in this Colt New Agent. I know Cane loves his Defender. Tell me if I'm wrong, Cane, but I think he also doesn't care for lasers. On a carry gun I LOVE Crimson Trace.

I'm wondering if people with Colt Defender/New Agent experience could let us know if CT might make up for the gutter sight.

I'm asking cuz I'm considering trading away my 9mm Kahr PM9 (my EDC) for a .45acp Colt New Agent. Then I'd be able to use any holsters I buy for it to also carry my Government when the inspiration hits.

ive run about 500 rounds through my new agent so far. i REALLY like it. the lack of a real sight doesnt bother me. the gutter sight was actually a selling point to me. the only diff with a gutter sight is your sight picture is on top of the target instead of just under it. if you use the standard sight picture and hold just under you will show about an inch inch and a half low. no real biggee since your only going minute of badguy anyway.

i find it very accurate 15 yard handgun. recoil and muzzle flip on par with fullsize colt. it holds seven in the shorty mag +1 in the pipe same as a standard 1911. it will also work with standard length mags meaning you dont need to buy specialized mags.

right out of the box no jams no stoppages. it feeds hp like it was ball ammo. if you do not have a lot of 1911 experience the combination of gutter sight and slim frame will mean you need to spend a bit more quality time with it.

trigger is excellent for an out of the box piece. series 80 safety is easily removed if you care to in order to install a different non-compliant series 80 trigger sear.

takedown and put together is a little on the hard side manual dexterity is a plus. if you do buy a new agent go to colt's site and check the serial number to make sure your has recieved the factory refit. if it hasnt and is an effected one colt will pay shipping and update the parts. the recall involved a few pistols with a faulty recoil buffer plate.

wonderful little gun i love mine.
