Coat a P7 PSP
I purchased a P7 PSP last year and love it. The proof marks indicate it was a military issue and not police. Whomever used it was certainly right handed as the slide has wear matching a right handed holster. I carry this gun primarily in the summer in a leather IWB tuck-able holster.
Last summer it was 90 for many days and sweat got onto the gun and it began to rust where the bluing was rubbed off. It got so bad I quit carrying it. I asked a friend of mine if I should cera-coat it with a home kit to try to solve the problem at a reasonable cost. He said no way because it will lower the value of the gun and suggested I use a nylon or kydex holster. It is not uncommon for me to trade guns for the latest and greatest (right now I'm drooling over 300 BLK uppers) but this gun is unlikely to be traded.
Is cera coating a good idea or am I just going to screw things up?

I have no experience with cera coat, but I do have a question.

If the firearm is not likely to be traded, then why worry about the value?

IMO, cera coat it.

I'm not an expert on cera coat either. It appears to be a cost effective and long lasting solution.
If I had the funding, I would buy a second one as a collector piece and carry the one I already have. I am leaning towards coating the one I have instead of the rusty alternative because I will be carrying it!

I've had good luck with dura coat or alumacoat. And if it does come off, I can always "touch up".
