Without any experience with a pistol I would recommend you lean towards a revolver as your first handgun, especially if it will be used for concealed carry at times. The revolver lately has been passed up for some strange reason and that's a big big mistake. Autos have a way of going off when least expected. Even though I carry several autos every so often I grab my old Colt DS and feel very comfortable about carrying it. It pulled my butt out of the fire more than once. Whatever you get choose wisely and not something cheap, cause cheap can get you hurt, or worse.

If you are on a budget there is nothing wrong with a 38 spl charter. I recommend a P-95 for a first gun. It is adequate, accurate and a lot of fun. It's a gun you will keep even if somewhere down the line you want something else. If everyone over 35 was totally honest they will admit they bought several guns before they found one that was perfect for them.

I have a 92fs, px4 storm, cz75sp01 tactical and glock 17 all full size guns. For sa/da only my berettas and my cz have that. They are all good guns. Good luck..
