...appreciate anyone's thoughts regarding the SFS - safe fireing system-
available on some HP's.

It is a pretty cool system. Wish I still had 'em. Money got tight or I traded them off cannot remember to be honest never had a problem at all with either one.
40 cal had one heck of a stout spring most likely to keep from frame from getting beat-up.

primarily - does the sfs have a negative effect on the reliable reputation of the browning,

does it make it harder to field strip, would you recommend that feature, or no??

ciao

IMHO< I would say no problems as far as field striping. As far as reliable reputation of browning none to my knowledge as well. Hope that answered your questions. I do know it was cool as heck when I had mine. Wish I still had it.

Here's some info, if you can stand the geeks:

A SFS kit for the BHP;

Browning HP SFS Safety Fast Shooting Kit [CS115] - $184.99 : GrandMasters L.L.C., GrandMasters L.L.C.

Just over 2K rounds in 40cal from my FN HP 40cal SFS with no problems AT ALL. No wait, I did have to adjust my shoulder holster stap that goes over the hammer. It was set for Cocked and Locked carry.

I still love my HP's but if you have to go PC carry with an HP or 1911 the SFS pistol or Kit is the way to go. IMHO.
