Default Big Departure for Ruger

Ruger® SR22™ Rimfire Pistol

Ruger just announced a new .22lr pistol. And it is nothing like the venerable Mark series at all.

Looks like another fine addition from Ruger's New Gun Of The Month division.

Hope it works good. It's about as ugly as a hi point.

Looks very similar to the Walther P22... Doesn't look like it has the mag release in the same location though. It's from Ruger so it should be a shooter!

I'd like to see a size comparison between the SR22 and either the Walther or something of a known size... I dont have to have every .22 I own be a tiny piece so I hope they've opted for more of a full sized version like the the M&P22.

two issues i dont like in a small 22lr semi. no threaded barrel. safety works the opposite of how it should work. sr22 is up to fire down to safe. while barrels can be threaded a reverse safety is a big no-go for me.

it doesnt come in pink either...

Those were my thoughts exactly.

Like Jon said, I'm not digging the safety being in reverse. At least they didn't do like Walther and put it on the slide. I just don't care for slide mounted safeties in the least.
