I chose a CZ75BD over the Sig 226 & HK USP simply due to value factor. CZs are good guns and you won't feel as though you had to "settle." Also, if your looking for a lot of gun per dollar, you owe it to yourself to at least take a quick look at the Stoeger Cougar.

its my first gun purchase -- though i have gone shooting before ...im taking this purchase seriously, planning to get professional lessons....also, aside from shooting at the range, this will be my home defense weapon
and yes all the guns listed are 'new'

I'd still go with the CZ regardless of the others price points.

If I was looking for a metal, duty-sized 9mm; the CZ I think would be my first choice right now.

That is a very nice price.
At the end of the day, you should get what you want. From a pure value for money standpoint the CZ is hard to beat. If you want the Sig, by all means get it, especially at that price. It's not like you'll hate it. Once you decide you like something, financial considerations become less important. Much like women. Enjoy.

How about getting a Ruger MarkIII 22LR stainless steel target pistol with the 7"

bull barrel for 450$? That would change my mind...

Of your choices listed, my opinion would be to go with the 75. Just my .02c
