Not sure if you're being funny or not, but just in case you don't know...

Everything he listed there, outside of Hi Point some will protest, make nothing more than very bad paper weights. Avoid them at all costs.

I spoke with Santa the other day.

He carries a 1911A1.

Why do you think he's so jolly all the

time?

I asked for an SP-01 last year. Got it, too, after working the 20 hours of OT necessary to purchase it myself...

No, not being funny. I appreciate the heads up about these turkeys.

Well today I got a little note in the e-mail from Firearms Talk, said they hadn't heard from me for some time so I thought I'd go over this post from the beginning just for fun and many pages back someone pondered "Why is this post still alive?", good question. Maybe on one hand people are honestly trying to help answer the question, some may just want to be part of the conversation, and some it seems are kind of on a "My dad's stronger than your dad" thing. In the end it comes down to how it feels, how it shoots, and is it inherently accurate in your hands. The absolute best handgun could be a piece of crude (PC here) in the original posters hands. That's why it's so important to handle and shoot if possible as many handguns as you can. My first pistol buy for CCW was a XDm40, even getting two free 16 round magazines from Springfield didn't make me feel better after finding out it didn't feel all that good in my hands nor did it shoot all that well for me. I kind of thought it was just me, maybe age, eye site and shaky hands. Kind of disappointing, but then while handling a Stoeger (Beretta) Cougar 40 which fit my hand beautifully, my wife asked the magic question. "Do you want to buy it?" That was the best handgun purchase since my Redhawk, which was around thirty years ago. So what it all comes down to is not what's so great about what others own but what fits and shoots best for you. So maybe the better question could have been, what are some of the best quality handguns I can chose from? This post has become somewhat like my car or truck is better than your, Chevy,Ford or Dodge and that's not helpful.

Most of us can not shoot up to the mechanical ability our weapons. I would guess that you are new to the shooting fraternity. If that is the case I would suggest that you look hard at a police trade in in 9mm. 9mm is the least expensive of the center fire rounds and allows for affordable practice.
