There's no overall best firearm let alone handgun. There are some many factors like what the firearm is going to be used for, personal preference, and ect. All mechanical devices are subject to breakage, malfuction, and what not. They can and will malfuction at some point.

Hi rem. I suggest scanning through previous threads - no offense to you but there is considerable discussion on just that topic. From lists created by users by caliber, size, frame style, and a whole lot more.
I am partial to full-sized pistols myself and own a few at that but it sort of depends on what its intended role is to be.
For example I carry a Kahr K9 and have for about 8 years. It's small and solid but not the pleasure to shoot that my others are but I trust it.
Would I put it in the top of a list? Well, mine I guess. See what I mean?
Good luck on your search and remember that another's opinion is just that - an opinion :-)

Jennings, Bryco, Davis, Lorcin, Hi Point.... they all make reliable target pistols ...

I could make a list of a bunch of guns i have, or "have", or wish I had. Why would one feel compelled to provide that infornation freely? Do you feel the need to show off? Is it some immature game of oneupsmanship?
Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

Most shooters are bound to be more accurate with a certain platform than the next. And most decent guns are far more accurate than the shooters behind them are capable of displaying.
If you're on an unlimited budget, I think a Sig P210 (9mm) or P226 X5 (9mm/40sw) would be tough to beat. The same for a lot of the higher end 1911s in 45acp.
On a more modest budget, I like the CZ 75 series (9mm) and its variants. Some of the longslide (5"+ barrels) polymers are pretty decent. Browning Hi-Power or a standard Sig P226 are other options.

Yeah I dunno, to me that's like saying what is the coolest looking car? It seems very subjective. But like Sweeper said, it really depends on the person shooting it. You can give the worlds fastest car to an average driver and the worlds best driver in an average car will win 9 times out of 10. Same thing with guns (in my opinion, no one freak out on me ).
If I had to pick one gun though, I would probably get a nice 1911, like a Kimber or a Nighthawk. Sig makes some perdy 1911's as well.
