Berretta 96g

Have experience with the 92fs, bought one shortly after they added the s on.

Great firearm, points perfect with my hand.

On to the 96g

Is it that much different? Are the grips the same as the 92? Handles much different?

Store had some nice used ones at a good price and would like to buy one for my son, but I don't know anything about them

Your thoughts or experience would be appreciated ..

Thank You

The 92 and 96 use the exact same frame. All grips interchange.

You should be able to flat out switch the barrel and slide between the two. If I were you, I would of hunted down the top half of the 96 and save the money.

I have the 96A1, it's the same as the 92 for grips and size comparison.

I have a 96D Brigadier. Absolutely great weapon. Even the owners manual refers to the 96 as a 92 Series.

It's for my son, as a gift to take to Frontsight firearms training institute.

I bought him a Diamond membership and now he needs a pistol.

It's only $365

Sorry, short attention span. In all honesty, your better off with a second 92 for him. The 40 s&w round limits capacity and kicks more than a 9mm. They also don't have great stopping power to boot. If he doesn't plan to modify it much, you might consider a CZ75, (85 if he's left handed). It has better accuracy, and the only reason I got the 92 over it is because it had more options. They're about $450 new too.

the 96A1 has a 12 round magazine and is quite accurate, at least mine is, I don't mind the kick but I am a big guy, my wife also shoots it without problems. The A1 series also has a rail. The 92A1 has capacity of 17 as opposed to 15 in the fs, also has the rail. I would say 40 has more stopping power than 9mm, I haven't personally chronyd any 9s but I have seen hand loads come out of a 40 that surpassed the muzzle energy of the 357magnum.

You can load an FS with a 20 round mec gar magazine.

ya I'm sure you can, I'm just talking about what they come with.
