I'm new to the Beretta line and after purchasing a 90 Two 9mm, I began checking some videos of them on YouTube. I noticed that in some when the slide is racked back, without a clip in it, the slide stays racked back. While in others (and indeed my own gun) the slide returns to the closed and ready position. This isn't a big deal to me but was just wondering why. What's the deal?

Never played with the new Ninety Two but did play with original 92 M9 extensively. I doubt you saw what you thought you saw. More likely the gun handler was activating the slide lock with thier shooting hand while working the slide with the off hand. Easy to miss in a video.

Ahhh, that's probably it then. Just proves the old adage, "The hand is quicker than the eye". Thanks for the help and info.

the slide stop is lifted by the magazine follower when the magazine is empty. without a magazine in the gun there is nothing to lift the slide stop and hold the slide back unless you're holding the gun at an angle that allows gravity to work the stop.
