I had a Cougar 8045, the .45 ACP version. I liked it. Here's a link to the range report: http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f66/beretta-cougar-evaluation-range-report-15185/

And here's a link to RL's Cougar 8040 report: http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f66/beretta-8040-mini-cougar-15421/

I have two Cougars, one in 9mm and one in .45 ACP. I think there great guns! I've never had any issues with either one on them. I had a 9mm DOA but didn't like the trigger on it so I sold it.

Other than that, I recommend them!

Yes its a great weapon. Fits my hand fantastically. Very reliable and the least expensive 9mm you can buy new from Beretta. Stoeger is a sub division of beretta.

I have a Stoeger Cougar 8040, made in Turkey with all the machinery from Beretta. I love it, feels great in my hands, shoots great.
