I had a Cougar 8045, the .45 ACP version. I liked it. Here's a link to the range report:

And here's a link to RL's Cougar 8040 report:
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”Samuel Adams

I have two Cougars, one in 9mm and one in .45 ACP. I think there great guns! I've never had any issues with either one on them. I had a 9mm DOA but didn't like the trigger on it so I sold it.

Other than that, I recommend them!

Yes its a great weapon. Fits my hand fantastically. Very reliable and the least expensive 9mm you can buy new from Beretta. Stoeger is a sub division of beretta.

I have a Stoeger Cougar 8040, made in Turkey with all the machinery from Beretta. I love it, feels great in my hands, shoots great.
