My bedside handgun changes occasionally. Sometimes it's a revolver and sometimes it's a semi. My wife always has her S&W model 60 loaded with .38 HP's in her nightstand.
There's also a Mossberg 500 short barrel loaded with 00 Buck within arms reach on my side. We both have small Surefire flashlights in our nightstands as well.
If that doesn't work, I have an AC130 orbiting overhead at all times.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. ― Samuel Adams
