Ok so I have been looking at adding a sig p238 to my arsenal. I know at first I heard of some issues but I also heard those issues were fixed. I guess my question is why have I not heard much from the 1911 guys on this little gun, it would seem that the p238 would attract them because of all of the inherent similarities. So being a 1911 guy myself I would love to hear what my 1911 brethren and anybody who has experience with the p238 has to say about this gun.
Thanks |

I think it has been batted around a little bit. I love the look of it. __________________ Dead Bears, the only good kind.

ive read mixed reviews of it. ive handled them they dont feel right to me. my thinking is why get one when you can get a colt new agent or defender in 45acp or 9mm?? __________________ "Gun control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound." — L. I purchased the P238 Equinox for my wife. It is a fun gun to shoot. It is the perfect gun to slide in a pocket when the Officers size 1911 is not an option to carry. |

my new agent fits in my blue jeans pocket just fine. its smaller than an officer model 1911 with no sights to snag on stuff. works just fine loose in a wind jacket or coat pocket. __________________ "Gun control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound." — L. either a ppk/s or bersa thunder 380 work better. __________________ "Gun control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound." — L. Neil Smith

I love my P238 (blackwood grips). It is the prefect pocket gun - night sites, thumb safety and comes with a holster. If needed for bigger hands, you can get an extended magazine that adds about 5/8" and one extra round.
Many say why have a .380 when you can have a 9/40/45. I say what are you shooting at, an engine block? A .380 with personal defense loads has more than enough stopping power. Not to mention, the larger rounds are more likely to over penetrate and cause collateral damage to property, loved ones or bystanders.
I agree the PPK/Bersa options are good as well, but they are taller, thicker, longer & heavier which makes CCW a bit less
Comfortable for most. They are Great for a nightstand gun ( bersa thunder 380 for me) as the profile is easier to feel for and find in the dark and offer a great laser grip for added intimidation/reassurance/accuracy. |
