The bushing may have been seated too far, but if it shoots well, don't sweat it. The Cougar is a swet pistol with a good reputation. The Taurus, not so much.
In life, strive to take the high road....It offers a better field of fire.

I would contact Beretta Technical Support in Accokeek Maryland regarding this. It certainly does not look right at all! It may create a little bit of inconvenience but by sending it back may get you some extra perks of tightening things up and resolving the problem. I would express my discontent with the situation and act mildly upset. Companies sometimes will do a little extra on the weapon to satisfy and unsatisfied customer who got a weapon with a factory problem. I am assuming the pistol is new and not used?

O.F., you're sure having some bad luck. Did you get the Stoeger from the same dealer who had the defective Taurus .357?
Maybe the dealer is buying old cheap used junk and trying to palm it off as new??? I almost bought what was displayed as a new S&W Model 657 once from a dealer until he forgot himself and started bragging about taking a deer the previous fall with the gun.
