9 MM Largo
A customer came in with a Star (1911 Clone) chambered in 9 MM Largo. Having some reliability issues as regards to striking primmer hard enough etc.. However he goes on to say, "he heard it could be made to work the 38 Super". Iím more of a rifle gunsmith grumpy guy; know we are talking a chamber reamer here; but has anyone have any experience or knowledge in this conversion? Overall the headspace checks out, it appears the firing pin may be the problem, hammer spring is strong..

9mm Largo vs. Others

Not a good idea.

remove the firing pin and clean the channel. Pipe cleaner or Q-tips and solvent. You might be surprised at the gunk that will come out. The build up can prevent the FP from going forward enough to reliably set off a primer.

I see many guns from Glocks, Smiths and Sigs to Rugers and HK's etc. with this issue after 500 -1000 rounds fired.
