Default .50 cal Gi for glock

I just saw an add in one of my gun magazines for a drop-in conversion unit for Glock 20/21 pistols making it a .50 cal GI. I like the concept but didn’t know much about the round and the ballistics so did some research and thought I would share what I have found with you all.

Nothing wrong with adding the conversion "just for the heck of it". But it's not a round with too many practical applications. Because it's extremely slow, I doubt it's able to do anything more than a 45acp already does. The velocity is the biggest shortcoming between the .50GI and rounds such as .50AE, .460Rowland, .44mag, and even 10mm...so it doesn't even really serve as an ideal hunting sidearm.

Seems like it's more of an "I've got a fitty" novelty than anything else. But heck, I'd be happy to run a few mags through one if the opportunity ever arose.

The price of the conversion kind of turned me off at 595.00 it cost more then the origanal firearm. and with no major differnce between the rounds. Its prolly not worth the bang for your or mine's buck

I could live with the cost of the conversion (I have 1911s in excess of that plus the cost of the gun).
However, I would have a problem with the cost and scarcity of the ammo.
