I would suggest the M&P. As someone asked earlier, Why a .40?

I have shot a 9mm, .40 and .45, and I liked the feel of the .40 the best. My brother has an M&P 9 which I really liked, so I was thinking of getting the .40 model. The .45 is fun as hell to shoot but I wanted a higher capacity mag than what the .45s offer.

Sounds good to me. It's gonna be yours. The M&P is a good choice.

^^^As Pete said in Brother where Art Thou, "That don't make no sense!

To say you wouldn't like a Glock due to its grip angle then immediately say you shoot one very well is a contradiction in terms.

I like the Gen 4 Glocks better than any of the earlier generations, but have been satisfied with a Gen 3 G22 (for duty) and G23 (for off duty). I have also shot and like the XD & M&P. The FNP looks and feels like a good pistol, but I've not had the opportunity to shoot one yet.

The .40 is a proven round and was designed from the ground up to meet the minimum penetration and expansion standards established by the FBI after the infamous Miami shooting that saw 2 determined thugs dead taking 5 FBI agents with them. That single event also lead to the wide variety of quality bonded JHP pistol ammunition available today.

If one of those bonded JHP loads are used the 9mm is acceptable. Masaad Ayoob recommends 2, the Winchester 127gn Ranger SXT +P+ and the Speer 124gn GDHP +P for a medium to full size 9mm. He's studied a LOT of SD shootings.

Default The .40

Check my post on the FNP comparisons. I have not shot the fnp yet as I just got it but I do like the feel of it over my XDm. Basically the same size as my SR9c so nice carry gun.http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f15/new-fnp-40-compared-45371/

Bought a glock 22 for my first handgun and I'm loving it! Fun to shoot and tons of accessories for it.
Can't go wrong with it.

Please don't encourage this kind of debate. It never goes anywhere good.
