Default 1911 vs. Desert Eagle

If you were given the choice of either pistol for free, what would you choose?

Depends on what 1911 it was. If any 1911, I'd take a Wilson Combat Supergrade any day over a desert eagle.

I'd probably get a Desert Eagle 1911

Desert Eagle 1911 Pistol: Magnum Research

The big DE magnums are a novelty more than anything else. I wouldn't mind test driving the .357 though.

no contest! the 1911! the DE is more a novelty and a gun you just want to shoot for the fun of it. the 1911 is a way more practical gun to own and shoot. now if the right deal came along, yes i would buy one and shoot it and be happy just to say i had one.

I'd choose the 1911. You just can't find a more outstanding handgun chambered for the .45ACP than the 1911 IMO. Not to mention you can't beat a classic John Browning firearm.

If someone where to hand me a Nighthawk Customs 1911, I wouldn't complain. If someone where to hand me a desert eagle, I would sell it and buy a 1911. lol

In my opinion, both would look pretty good on display. Both would be fun to show off to your friends or take to the range. But if you want to actually put your gun to work, the 1911 has many practical uses and the DE has very few.

If I won the Powerball jackpot tomorrow, I'd probably have a dozen 1911s in short order. And I'm not sure I'd have a single Desert Eagle.

Depends on what brand of 1911. I don't want any more Filipino 1911s. My old man has a DE in .44 Mag and it's honestly a lot of fun to shoot from a rest. He has a 4x Leupold on it and it will shoot a butterfly at 75 yards all day long. Offhand shooting isn't practical, but if you shoot off of a bench, it's a lot of fun!

1911 all day long.. I agree with the DE being more of a novelty gun.. I would take DE .50 though, and buy an ankle holster for it

It looks like we all agree that the 1911 is a way more practical handgun. The desert Eagle will never be in use like the 1911. Either gun for free is great of course.
