Well...you really, really need to have big hands to be comfortable with the 21. I do and I'm actually more comfortable with the G 36 (single stack .45). However, there is nothing that feels as good as a good 1911.

I have medium sized hands and I really like how the 1911 feels

Follow your gut and get what YOU feel most comfortable shooting. The one you are more accurate with is the one you should buy. Asthetics will only get you so far. But most importantly, don't make your purchase because some poster said you should get gun A because gun B sucks.

They're all going to have their own opinions, most of which are emotionally attached judgements, but only buy the gun YOU want to. This argument was the same way ten years ago and ten years from now it won't change. Just like another poster said, it's the classic Chevy/Ford debate.

I'd say shoot them both, and pick the one that feels the most comfortable to carry and shoot. Better accuracy is far greater than pleasing either the Glock or the 1911 fans on here. Like I said earlier, go with your gut instincts.

P.s. If it were me, I'd chose a 1911.

I've had a number of different semi-autos for concealed carry since 1995. About a year ago, after retiring, I studied up on the risks and likely senarios of using a handgun in self defense. I sold several of my favorite handguns that I had for years and bought a Kimber Ultra + CDP II and put a laser sight on it.
My shooting has never been better. I would recommend the 1911.
