I wanted to find out this right quick, so the the first shells I put through it were the cheapo bulk Remington golden bullets. These are widely known to be the crappiest rounds out there and jam most semi-autos. Other than a couple of rounds that were just duds, it ran through them like they were match grade ammo. I even reloaded the duds and tried to fire them again and yep they were duds. So, in my very short experience with the Browning 1911-22 I would have to say no it is not picky.
