Default Help on learning about firearms.

Help on learning about firearms:

I live in Poteau, OK, and I would like to learn how to properly shoot and use my scope settings. For long distance target shooting. I have a Winchester model 70, 223 and a Ruger Mark M77 Mark11 7 mm mag. My scopes are a Zeiss 3-9x44 and a Burris 3-9 fullfield soon to be upgraded to a Zeiss 6.5-20x50. I just need some education on how and what to do to get started.

Not sure I understand the question. Are you saying you don't shoot or asking how to setup and use a scope? Can you elaborate a bit?

I would like to know how to set up my scope for at zero. Say 100 yards and then 300 yards. How to take advantage of fancy reticles to figure bullet drop. My ultimate goal is to work up to 1000 yards with the 7 mm. I am talking a 4x4 ft piece of plywood. And a 1 ft square with the 223 at 100 and 200 yards.

I just want to learn to target shoot. And be pointed in the right direction to learn how.

My goal may not be realistic but at least I can learn to do what I can with some guidance.

I would start with reading books. Not being sarcastic. There is a lot of good info you can read up on. Then go out and put it into practice. After that experience of putting rounds down range and talking with others will do you wonders also.
