Target shooting

Does anyone know the rules of target shooting on your own property? (Rural area) Distance from neighbors, backstops, noise, etc. ?

i think it would all depend on what state your in,laws vary from state to state.i would contact local sheriffs dept and ask a few questions there.

In NY it's 500 feet minimum, unless you have your neighbor's permission. Just make sure your shots can not cross a roadway, I recomend a good backstop set up in the most remote direction on your property, and talking with the neighbors and local LEOs first. Local laws may be different, so check FIRST. This should seriously lessen any future problems.

Common sense will go a long way also. Whatever the rules and regs, go just a little bit better and youll for sure have little problems with LLEOs and neighbors.
