Either the .22 Hornet or the .223 will do the job. I'd recommend a .223 solely based on ammo costs. The .223 ammo will be quite a bit cheaper. If you reload then ammo costs don't figure in.

See if you can chamber it in Weatherby .300 mag, that should have enough oomph to kill coyotes.

My favorite barrel for that type of work is the 256 magnum.
You would have to find a used one though.
