If I could get my girl into shooting as much as I am, I would let her pick out whatever she wanted and i would be standing there with a credit card.

I get your point.
If the girlfriend decided she wanted a higher class/price gun than I would normally buy for myself - I would buy it. If that is the one she thought she would use and that she liked - as opposed to something less desirable to her - I would get it.
I would want her to want what she had - rather than "just get something" and then she essentially abandons it. That doesn't so any good.
I would want her to have the one that she thought she would actually carry and use - independent of my thinking.
