We have a winner. Replace your 1911 with a Glock and you won't have all these issues. I would step up to 10mm while I was at it. If you are used to lugging around a 3lb 1911 the G20 will be a piece of cake.
The "limp wrist" thing is not a joke. A 1911 is a manly gun, you need to hang on tight to keep it working.
It is not necessary to choke a 1911 to death. We used to shoot them 1 handed for target and it was never an over tight grip. Quit being afraid of the gun. A 1911 is heavy and does not have that much recoil. I have shot 380's with more recoil. Try a Glock 36 sometime. It weighs 27 oz loaded.

Hell my oldest when she was maybe 75 lbs shot full house stuff in my Commander and bounced pop cans at the 25 yard bank (much to the amusement of a couple of old timers that stopped shooting their Garand a couple of benches down, both smiling from ear to ear).
