I was loading a .22 shell into the magazine today when it exploded in my hand. I have a couple of blood blisters and my fingers were numb for a bit but I am ok otherwise. It was probably the equivalent of a firecracker going off in your hand. I found the case and bullet. There are no marks on the rim of the case and no indication as to why it blew up. Has anyone ever had that happen to them or can someone shed some light as to why this could happen?
How old is the ammo? They sound unstable. If it is new stuff you want to contact the company immediately with the lot # on the box so they can look into it and issue a recall if necessary. If it is old, dispose of it properly.
