Unless I can make it the 18 miles to my boss's house, when SHTF I am my own gunsmith.
I don't claim to be an actual gunsmith, but I have learned a lot from my boss, who IS a gunsmith.
I'll agree that an AR15 and a 1911 would be the way to go as they are easily repaired and maintained.
I also think that a Rem 870 or Mossberg 500 would be a good idea. They're very common guns and for the most part, easily maintained and repaired.

You guys can come to my place to print if you need to. Just look for one of the only houses with what appears to be a wall of the undead surrounding it at about 400 or so yards and listen for the soft hum of a natural gas powered Kohler keeping me warm and dry.

Plus one on gun books and illustrations. Great idea and would DEFINITELY be great "currency" in extreme situations.
