I hurt my left hand in a fight (He really had a hard head), and I developed severely painful tendonitis in my hand, to the point that holding a phone, let alone a gun was amazingly painful. At it's worst, answering the phone with my left hand caused me to nearly collapse in agony. I started shooting right handed only until it healed. I primarily shot revolvers (Dan Wesson Model 15-2 and S&W 28), and eventually became very good at shooting that way, even full power .357 rounds weren't a problem. Between re injuring my hand, and shooting too soon, it took almost a year and a half to finally go away for good.
And I have to be honest, shooting one handed has always felt more natural to me, regardless of what I'm shooting.
