When SHTF...HP vs. FMJ

I'm mostly talking .45acp here.

Full Metal Jacket:

-Will go through metal, glass, people pretty easily
-Leave a wound channel about the diameter of the bullet
-A little less expensive

Hollow Point:

-More effective when not going through barriers first
-Leave a wound channel much larger than diameter of bullet
-A little more expensive

When hoarding for a SHTF situation (from political unrest/revolutionary war to natural disaster protection) which is better to have:

-As barter? (would HP actually garner more credit?)
-In warfare? (is HP any more effective n this situation?)
-Hunting? (is FMJ better for taking down a raccoon or something?)

cheaperthandirt.com carries a brand called BVAC, which is US-made ammo of pretty good quality. They have 50-round boxes and 500-round boxes of FMJ and HP that are roughly similar in price. I'm wondering if one would be better to hoard than the other.

I figure I'll be shooting both, cause that is what I have. Right now I'm working on getting brass, bullets, powder and primers....Oh, yea....and reloading equipment.

SHTF...You'll be shooting what ever you make or scrounge. My guess is the supply of .45 will drop off the map in short order and all that you will find is 9mm.

Ah, but the 9mm round will be carried by the military and available, until that supply runs dry. I intend to barter with Beer and Toilet paper for ammo and anything else I need. I'm hoarding TP, fermentables, practicing reusing yeasts and and freezing hops. :D

I never thought they allowed the NG to have ammo. Where do you suppose the military warehouses the ammunition they purchase as a precaution in the event of war? It's not at your local NG Armory!!

Are there some posts missing here or is dune talking to himself?

Under the geneva convention, military cannot use hollow points in a declared war. Only "Ball" ammo. Ball ammo is designed to wound, not kill. As far as Stan, that is not an official declared war. Private citizens have to duty to be "Judged by 12, not carried by 6".

I fixed it. I'm still getting the hang of the hammer. ;)

When I was in the nasty guard. We had a supply depot that we had to go get it from. We would have two guys come in early drive 3 hours up to Herlong then drive back to the armory. They would then stand guard till the convoy left for Camp Roberts. The driver and the Vehicle Commander would be the only ones allowed to have weapons locked and loaded. Driver VC would each have a 45 and the VC would also have an m-16 with 5 30 rd mags at the ready.
