And................

Sometime around 1943 or so, Life magazine had of photo of Gen. Patton sitting on a small rise of ground with an aide, peering forward with a pair of binoculars. The caption began "With a pearl handled six shooter on either hip............"

The photo evoked Patton's famous reply of a "pimp in a New Orleans whorehouse......."

Actually, Patton's handguns had IVORY stocks, not pearl.

They don't call it a "gun handle" shift knob.

Over the years here in the west I have looked at many old Frontier handguns. The Mother of Pearl grips far out number real Ivory ones.
I think they were popular back in the Post Civil War culture. The Ivory and Stag fake ones were big with the B-Western Cowboy movies.

Put the bullets in that rectangular thingy & put it in the gun where it fits. Grab the gun by the opposite end of barrel. Point and shoot. If it goes bang, you are holding onto the right part. Repeat the process often.

The english language unlike any other in the world is extremely adaptable and rapidly changes non stop. Its one of the reasons that english is being adopted worldwide for scientific purposes.

Just embrace it i say. Be glad you dont have to memorize a pictogram for every thought or concept.
