In NJ you have to apply for a permit to purchase a handgun, its good for 90 days and you can extend it once for another 90. Mine is on the last 30 days, and my cash can only afford me a Filipino 1911 at this Point In the game. Not that they're BAD, i prefer to buy a upper tier make.
So it's either save up and let the permit expire or get the Tomcat, apply for another permit while I save up for the next purchase. It takes about 2-3 months to get another permit (freakin NJ). May take me 3-5 months to save up the $$ for a quality 1911 (about $600-$1000).
I travel very often and have a FL non res CCW so the Tomcat would serve as a good CCW or backup. The 1911 would be a range gun for me I wouldn't CC with it.
