my suggestion is that if possible and a good alert system is a dog. even a small yappy dog that barks at unusual noises is a good alert system.

Yes. It's a Pekingese. Good thing is that he is always alert and barks at anything that moves.

I have encountered (caught) a burglar in my home. When I showed him my Dan Wesson .44 magnum revolver, he was very cooperative, waited peacefully for the Deputy Sheriff, and so far as I know, did his 2-20 years peacefully. But you never know how it will turn out. I caught him by sneaking up on him, surprised him, and left him a choice between surrendering, or trying to fight and die. He was armed with a big knife, but didn't try to use it.
I hope he was at least standing on linoleum when he pissed his pants!!

I would like to use these but don't have the room for a pool on the living room.

He was in my dining room, wet his panties, but it didn't show too bad, except where it dribbled on my carpet. He was dressed all in black, including a black beret, black sweatshirt, black scarf, black gloves, black sweat pants stuffed into black combat boots. He really looked "precious". I'll bet his momma would have been proud.
He was 19 years old chronologiclally, but I wouldn't guess his mental age was much over 12.

A woman I work with who immigrated from the old USSR heard me talking about CCWs and self defense. She told me just do what I did when I went out carry a grenade in your purse. I nearly **** myself because she was not joking.
