I had a home invasion in 1997. I didn't have a weapon, the punk ran and I chased him. His two friends were outside raiding my car and the neighbors car. They ran, too. My wife called the police. I chased them for several blocks through back yards, across lawns, through bushes. I literally ran into a police car coming through some bushes. I explained to the LEO's what was going on. I got in the squad car and shortly thereafter, two of the BG were caught. As we were about to call it off, the third one popped out from between two houses and ran right in front of the squad. The LEO's piled out after him and I stood on the sidewalk listening to them yelling at him to "GET DOWN! On the ground!!", etc. until another LEO showed up, drew down on me and told me to get down. He thought I was the BG! He figured it out when no one cuffed me but continued to yell. He said "S**t!", and ran into the back yard. As far as in know, my body imprint is still in the sidewalk where I hit the ground. Shortly thereafter, my wife thought it a good idea to get a gun! A lot of stupid mistakes I made that night, anyone of which could've gotten me killed!! I was real lucky. Make plans, run different scenarios. Nothing is out of bounds. What do you do if you're in the can and can't get to your gun? Suppose you're in the shower? In the kitchen cooking grits and the guns in the living room? Just for instance...

Now I use several strategically placed remote sensor M134A1 mobile sentry guns with motion detectors, IR sensors and facial recognition software. I also keep an M60A4 medium machine gun in a biometrical operated safe next to my bed with 250 rounds of Raufoss Mk 211 High Explosive Incendiary/Armor Piercing Ammunition (HEIAP) 7.62x51mm ammunition. Of course, the whole house will get locked down with several layers of 80mm rolled homogeneous armor.

Has everybody heard about the pepper spray sentries. They have one for the wall. It sprays when you walk by. There is also a ceiling one that sprays down a cloud. Looks like a big smoke detector. Of course you active it for the night. Saw it in a home defense magazine from the states.

WOW !!! I don't know how long it takes some of you to rack a slide , but for me , old and slow, I can rack and fire " just as quick " as disengaging the safety and firing , or I'm I suppose to leave the safety off to save time ?? LOL

. As to the shot gun rack , there's a reason it's taught to LEO's , it's psychological !!

Next time you have the chance , stop and ask a cop if his 870 has one in the pipe , and see what he's come back with.

Take care all !!

I would probably set that off on the way to the can in the middle of the night. Causing an unfortunate and messy incident.
