I recently surveyed my log book and find I have fired away far more .44 Magnum rounds than any other. (I don't log in .22 R.F.~no loading data to collect.)
These have been fired mostly in Ruger Super Blackhawks and S&W Model 29s. But a Super Blackhawk, with 7 1/2" barrel, is one of the great pleasures of handgunning. I have cooked up loads with JHP bullets ranging in weight from 180 grs to 275 grs. and velocities up to 1700 fps and down to 900 fps. In each case accuracy was was outstanding, especially in the faster speeding bullets. Recoil is not bad in the Super Blackhawk, and can be fired nearly all day long without hands getting sore.
For long range shooting, game field, silhouette range, or long range plinking, the .44 Magnum is one of my favorites.
And, with a few touches, the Super Blackhawk is such a handsome looking revolver!
