22lr... just shoot and shoot and shoot.

Ok... major caliber: 45acp. But I'm not so sure it's the round or the 1911.

10mm would be something I'd like to try, but honestly, the 45 is still the ultimate bullet as far as I'm concerned.

Have .22 to .50 BMG guns, but if I had to walk out into the world with only one, it would be the Marlin lever gun in the modern version of 45/70!!!!

I carry one in my work truck, with a rifle belt with 50 rounds......
Nothing I can't stop with that thing, and nothing to screw up, bad battery, etc........

Just kills everything it hits, game, people, trucks, elephants.....

Anything that would come my way.......

Nothing like a 230 grain hollow point coming out a 1911

I love the 45ACP...I see the 357 as an almost overlooked round in these modern times. Wheel guns are seen by so many as the old way and not of any real use...Unless they have one pointed at them and they run and pray. I love my two Smith 357's. There is simply no denying it's effectiveness as a defense round.
I'm also kind of confused by the blind 9mm love. For me a 9mm makes a pretty fun target gun but I don't like carrying them around all that much.
Shooting fun I'm a rabid 22LR fan. The cost per round is just sooo overshadowed by the fun I get form shooting them. Pistols, revolvers, rifles, all tons of fun in 22.

But carrying I stick with a 45ACP for the most part. I did recently aquire a 9mm that is very carry friendly and do like it but am much more comfortable wit ha 45 I just seem to shoot them better.

.22 LR

I've only shot two centerfire handguns, although I have shot pistol caliber's in submachine gun, of the two it has to be the .40; the other was a .380 so it's an easy choice.

9x23 Winchester Magnum

If I were to get a non-military 1911, thats what it would be chambered in... (.38 Super would be a close second)

In handguns in general I agree, and would add the 22lr to it, but that's only compared to other calibers which are more viable as defensive options. But in rifles the 22lr is a great round.
