Ahh. Well that makes perfect sense then. I would love to have a Medusa.

You're forgiven. We're all like that, deep down.

Favorite caliber?
Pretty much whatever I have in my hand, pocket, or holster at any given time.
But my all-time favorite for reasons including practicality and nostalgia is .41 Magnum.
Great for hunting, shooting targets, and defense. But time has taken its toll, and the .41 is rapidly becoming history.
So now, it's a toss-up between .45 acp and .44 special.

I fully sympathize with your fickleness. I am inclined to do that too. Each caliber has its merits, and its arena in which it's the best choice.

Default favorite caliber

I have enjoyed reading the posts about favorite caliber. It is interesting to see the different reasons. The one caliber I haven't seen much on is the .40 short & weak. Is there anyone out there that considers it their favorite? Personally I am not a big fan of it. The only reason it came to be was because the FEEBs couldn't handle the recoil of the 10mm. It does have good ballistics with higher round capacity than the .45. Another caliber I haven't seen anything on is the .357 sig. I have fired it but not enough for an educated opinion. I do know that it is very accurate at 50+ yrds. I have heard that the Texas Rangers have gone to it.

I have a couple of .40's, and like them perfectly well. I carry my Stoeger "Cougar" .40 often, and enjoy shooting it at the range. I have a Taurus PT940, also a .40. I carry it sometimes, too. I consider the .40 to be a good, practical defensive round. It is just not my personal favorite.

My preferable round is .45 acp, then .22 and 9mm a toss up. A Dillon 650XL is in transit , so I hope to do lots more "economical " shooting. My wife has only recently started shooting and obtained her CCW and her favorite caliber is 9mm although she is more proficient with a .22 which is not surprising given she shot her first gun in May.

The U.S. Coast Guard is the only armed Force here to adopt the .40 Sig Sauer.

U.S. Secret Service and Air Marshals use the Sig 357Sig.

Personally I carried a Sig 226 in .40 then switched barrels and made it a 357Sig and haven't looked back. Basically its a 9mm on steroids.

Default Undecided...

Hard to say. .45 ACP historically is my favorite, in both pistol and revolver. I shoot my .45 pistols (Government Model, all) regularly.

I own more .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolvers than any other sort of handgun. I shoot them a lot.

I really like .44 Magnum for 'heavy work'. I have a .44 Special that I find very special.

My carry gun is .40 S&W.

Just for the record, I do own a 9x19 pistol. Three, actually. A S&W M39-2 and two High (which refers to capacity, not energy) Powers, one FN military contract and one honest to J. M. Browning. I don't really carry them any, but I shoot them regularly.

Probably the most versatile rifle caliber for North America - and I don't go into Canada or Alaska - is the .308 Winchester. I have suitable rifles in that caliber. But my favorite rifle caliber is 6.5x55 Swede.
