You'd be surprised. My wife is small and she shoots my 20 gauge very well. She loves it.

Birdshot is extremely mild to shoot. Not quite as mild as a .22 LR, but still very mild.

I'm not trying to say "don't get a .22!" I think its a very fun caliber, but possibly not the best choice for defense.

But if you think your wife will shoot it, and won't mind, then get it! Sure beats a stick.

Ruger LC 380: has a Slide that is much less difficult then the LC9/LCP to cycle. Also nothing wrong with the LCR or SP101 in 22Mag. If that's allowed in your country...

Shotgun shells come in every "power level" from "did it fire" all the way up to "someone help me find my shoulder".

As for the pistols: Ruger, Sig, Walther, even Glock (I can't believe I said that) would all work well.

But as one "gun expert" said... 22 may not be preferred for self defense, but a face full of 22 will certainly ruin your day. While one of the least powerful rounds, with moderate training, you can put more rounds on target, faster with a 22 over any other caliber.

I'm certainly no gun expert and wasn't trying to be.

I also wasn't trying to really steer him away from a 22. I hope my posts didn't read like that.

If it did, that wasn't my intention. I was just saying that my small-framed wife can handle a 20 gauge just fine, and yes that 22 isn't really ideal. But, as I said, better than a stick.

I'm not gonna volunteer to be shot by one anytime soon.

Nah... I wasn't even thinking of your post.
