Desperate times call for desperate measures.
If you want to keep the stoeger, and you only need $200, consider a loan or pawn.

Maybe your friend would let you "pawn" your pistol with him for a small fee or allowance of the ammo. He could try it out to see if he wants one, and you have a chance to buy it back in a couple of months.

Never give up a gun you already have.

1. You'll never get it back.
2. You'll add "The best gun I ever had...." to you lamentations.

The family emergency is one reason I put all my $5 bills in safe keeping.
Short term is to look at possible refinancing a car with a credit union. Don't go to a "Title for cash" rip-off.

I've been there a total of 5 times recently.

Don't do it. Just, don't.

Based solely on the information given I would do it.

Things are just things and while I enjoy nicer things as much as anybody, for me family comes first and always will. You would still be armed.

Also, personally, I would feel better about a closed deal rather than an open ended loan situation with a friend or even a bank.

You may have the solution in your possession, but it's not the gun. What is .40 going for right now? You may only need to sell half to get what you need.

you'd be way ahead to swap, actually, altho I'd greatly prefer the PF9, being slimmer in a pants pocket holster. If you need more than 7 shots, you need a lot more'n any handgun, much less a pocket gun. You need friends, body armor, hand grenades, smoke grenades, a real fighting rifle, ear protection, etc, cause you are missing way too much and have way too many enemies! :-)
