Of Seventy per cent of Law Enforcement , probably Fifty per cent can't hit a bull in the rear over fifty yards. We had a case in Memphis not too long back where two officers emptied their pistols at a suspect without one disabling hit.

They were in the front seat of their patrol car, the suspect in the back seat.

And very few LE pistols could bring down a white tail at fifty yards.

I'll stick with my .44s

Not to be stirring the pot, but...

Law Enforcement carries what the bean counters say they can afford.
Most LE Personnel do not have as much dedication to range time as most of our people here at FTF. If they make their "quals", then great.
With that in mind, the simpler the handgun, the better. They don't have to think, just spray and pray.

The best gun is the one you are comfortable enough to strap on in the morning and not take off til you return to bed at night. For me that is my Springfield XDM 3.8 in .40, I don't leave home without it.

The world's best handgun is the one you have in your hand when you need one.

Was at my sisters place one 4th of July and a deer was laying half dead in the back yard (probably hit by a car). She called the police (she lives in the suburbs) to come out and get rid of it. The cop showed up and told everyone to put their hands over their ears and fired a shot standing over the deer. He missed! I told him "Good thing that deer ain't backing heat, because you'd be dead." He failed to see the humor in that statement and finally shot the deer again, then called the game warden to remove the deer.
