I don't mind recoil, but the worst kicking handgun I have ever shot is a S&W 357 snubbie. I have shot several 44 magnums and and one 454 Casull. I would shoot any of them again before I would shoot that 357 again. The Ruger LCP and the KelTec P3AT are not a lot of fun either. My hands are too large for small handguns.
Although it was not painfull, the strongest kick I shot was a S & W .44mag. It had handloads that were too potent, but was controllable. S & W was at a range I go to, offerring free shooting of their guns, you just had to buy the ammo. I was going to test the .500 but after feeling the blast wave behind a guy shooting it.....I changed my mind :-) Bad arthritis keeps me from anything like that today.
