Smith 340 PD with corbon .357 was a bit stout, bonked my finger but didn't turn it into a bloody pulp.

Full house 300 grainers in a 4" 629 Smith were pretty solid in the whack department, broke the gun even, but again no dripping of red.

Did get a bit of a web tear between thumb and index, shooting hot loads of heavy bullets (240+ gr) way back...........in a Ruger flattop .44 mag. But I was a kid then.

I liked my Contender in .35 rem, different recoil, stout and felt good

Ive only fired 4 handguns. Glock 19 & 17, Taurus 1911, and my old Sigma 9mm. The sigma by far had the worst recoil and muzzle flip. I would also shoot few hundred rounds, but my lower knuckle on my right thumb would be bruised later on. 1500 rds in 3 months. Havent shot it since i sold it and knuckle still not back to normal looking color lol.

Worst recoil for me was a S&W 500, 4". Most painful was helping a friend put 400 rounds of his bear loads through his 44 mag in one range session. We fired a full cylinder, then passed it until we were out of ammo. Lots of fun, but my wrist was sore for at least a week.
A co-worker had a 44 mag deringer double on him. It broke his thumb just in front of the wrist and went flying over his head. We give him a lot of crap for it, but man that must of hurt somethin' awful.

This one. It's Cane's S&W model 29 with a handload called Atom Bomb. It didn't hurt, but it was the most persistent recoil I've ever felt. It just kept pushing for what seemed like a whole second after the round went off. I'm sure it wasn't that long, but it felt that way.

Ruger .41 mag, .454 Casull, .45/.410 derringer W/ 2" bbl, it kicked so hard you had to aim at the ground at 25 ft. to hit your target, I had 11" bbl made and a forarm put on it so I could shoot it from the hip, I call it "Mad Max"

I should have added a photo credit to Canebrake. He's the one who caught the flash.

60 Cal black powder horse pistol. My freedom arms 83 454 Cassul has NOTHING on that thing even when shooting my 315 grains Buffalo bore bullets through it.

I shot a Thompson Contender chambered for .45-70 (the rifle cartridge) once and that was enough for me. That damn thing had a super set of comps drilled into the barrel, had a fore-end counter weight and it still damn near took my hands off at the wrist.

It would be a great, one shot finisher, but there is no real application I can see personally for taking a breech load, single shot into the field. I know guys hog hunt with them, but that is more balls than brains if you ask me.
