Something else u can look at is a m&p 40 they r really good guns and reasonable price plus u can buy a 9mm conversion barrel and run it to shoot at the range then use the 40 for ur home defence all u have to do is switch barrels just something else to think about

I'm an old guy so I prefer a 1911 platform,, I just shoot them better, I have them in .45acp and 9mm. The 9 is a real tack driver, although I recently picked up a Keltec PF9 and was very surprised at how well it shoots and the trigger is much better than I figured it would be,, a very handy little 9mm. As stated in earlier posts, starting off with a good .22 rim fire is very good advice, I still enjoy shooting them as much as anything and honing your skills may be easier for you and stepping up to larger calibers may be an easier transition ,, good luck and have fun.
