The barrel looks fine to me. I recon a full lug would look better.
The sp101 or the sw617?

Not double action but it is accurate and will shoot anything .22.
I prefer it for magnum.

I have a 71 3 screw and it is my only .22 revolver!!!!!!

Get a S&W 17 or 617. I have had one for 15 years. It is far more accurate than I am and has never given me a problem. It eats everything.

2nd choice would probably be the Ruger SP101.

The S&W Mdl. 18 .22 LR 4" Combat Masterpiece. The S&W Mdl. 48 .22 Mag 4" Combat Masterpiece. These 2 handguns have been my favorite .22 revolvers for over 40 years.

Taurus revolver 992 is 22 and 22 mag and was Field and Stream choice for an award in 2012.

I own one, and it is a well made gun, for a Taurus, not my first choice for gun makers.

The interchangeable cylinder makes the gun an attractive option to pull double duty from one firearm. You can plink, train, practice, and also do serious stopping tasks if needed.

Until this thread, I'd pretty much let the idea of getting a .22 revolver fall by the wayside. That 617 is a really attractive revolver. Now I want one & it's your fault. I thought you should know.

Liberals are constantly telling us about the poor and oppressed in this country. With that in mind, why do they feel the need to keep importing poor people from other countries?

I just sold a taurus 22 revolver. The action was so bad that it would hurt my thumb after 20 times or so of cocking the hammer back to single action mode. I quickly sold it after a few outings, and decided on quality. After that experience, I will never look at a Taurus again.
This was my Taurus:

I'll take a picture of my 617 and post it.

I think the company has some quality control issues. Some do seem to be off in their cylinder rotation, causing hard trigger pull, hard hammer pull etc. My 22 cylinder turns fine, but my mag cylinder does not function as easily. Figure it might loosen up over time and by shooting it.
