I'm taking it to the range today to run a couple of bricks thru it to get everything broke in and I will post my thoughts on it in the next few days...

P.s.... Thanks for the birthday wishes my friends!

Good choice. I held one for the first time a few days ago and really liked it.

Feeling good in your hand is half the battle.

Good luck with your new firearm. Let us know how it performs.

I have an XDs45, a G27, and used to have a 9mm Shield. They're all really good guns. It's going to come down to personal preference.

I usually carry either an XDs45 or XDs9. I sold my Shield (which I liked quite a bit) when I added my first XDS, because the XDs was a better fit for my tastes. My G27 performs great, but sits at home and is rarely shot. Maybe I'll sell it. And those statements are 100% personal preference...so you just have to figure out what suits your expectations best.

I would trust any of these guns. I would choose to buy whichever fit me best.

How about a Stoeger Cougar compact? 13 rounds eats everything you feed it.

M&P Shield but not in 40. You gain nothing with the 40. As a matter of fact you LOOSE big time! The 40 does not have any better terminal ballistics than the 9 when you use the best available ammo AND everyone I know who did get the 40 and then shot my 9 said they wish they would have gotten the 9. I have been in LE for 35+ years and I think the Shield is the BEST CC weapon I have ever owned. Definitely DO NOT get a 45 with a BBL length less than Commander length (4.25 inches) as you will set yourself back 100+ years in terminal effectiveness!!! The 45 is a low velocity round to start with and when you drop below the 4 inch length your MV's drop off in many cases below 700 fps!!!
These are just some observations of an 'old fart' who has had A LOT of experience in these matters!!!
