My opinion of any of the pistols you selected really doesn't matter. All three are reliable and affordable. What would help you more than anything is to shoot all three. Some ranges rent guns. I shoot in competition. I have no problems borrowing a pistol for a match. If you are active at any range most people don't mind if you shoot their gun a few times.

Every time I go to a shoe store, I try on the shoes before laying down my hard earned money.

I would try to find a place that rents firearms and try them out.

And like I do not have one pair of shoes for every day, I do not have one firearm for every day.

for concealed, the one u carry is the one to buy. Big bulky guns are out, so make sure the one you want fits your hand, is comfortable to shoot, (u wont hit anything if u cant shoot it well) and one that is comfortable and light enuff for u to carry every day.

It depends a lot on how you dress and where you carry. I have had a G27 for a few years. Great gun and a great choice. It's a handful but I learned to shoot it well. I carry it some, but it's heavy and looks like you are carrying a brick IWB. I refuse to dress in clown pants to conceal. I will continue to carry it under certain conditions.

I recently picked up a Shield 9mm. It's a lot easier for me to hide and is more comfortable for me in lighter clothing.

I won't give pro's and con's because I have not handled all 3. The one I do own and carry is the XDS. It is a fine little gun and my favorite carry gun but is not for everyone. I know folks that own the others and they will tell you the same about them. Beg, borrow or rent and try to shoot all 3 and then decide which you feel will work best for you.

The nice thing about experience is that everyone has some and makes more each day. I have to agree with most every post so far in that you need to develop your own experience. There are several good examples already given; going to the range during a competition, talking to people there about their guns and possibly shooting theirs. I know that ranges I frequent are friendly about letting interested people ask about and shoot guns they may be interested in. Renting guns at a range/gun store and shooting them is a great way to develop experience on your own also. The range officers are always ready to help and some have good experience on their own. Ask and they will be glad to tell you what they know. I've only owned one of the above choices and got rid of it for other guns as I can't afford too many outright, but that's the way I've owned guns my whole life; buy, lay-a-way, trade, etc. My choices would not include any of the above three, but that's OK, since it is your choice that matters. At any rate, buying a carry gun is not a one-shot deal, pun intended, it's not a destination, it's a journey. If you don't like the one you get, you can always buy another one later. As you grow in your experience, you will learn more and might decide you bought the best one for you or you might decide on a totally different one. Great! As of right now, you can buy whatever you want.

Yes, Happy 40th, and may you have many more. I have shot the XD in 9MM., And hear a lot about shorter versions. I'm the wrong guy to ask about Glocks, but I wish you luck..

Thanks everyone!!! I went with the XDs in 45ACP because I already own a full sized M&P in 40 and a SR9c... besides I really like the way the XDs feels in my hand... I also agree that the Glock-27 felt a little bulky to me and that the XDs would be easier to conceal... I'm taking it to the range today to run a couple of bricks thru it to get everything broke in and I will post my thoughts on it in the next few days...

P.s.... Thanks for the birthday wishes my friends!
