Trade a Kimber for an H&K plus cash?

I bought a new Kimber Ultra CDP II a year ago and thought that it was going to be the bee's knee's for concealed carry. I was correct in the fact that it was light and easily concealable for a 1911, and it is a .45 ACP. What I do not like about it, is the ambi safety and how snappy the recoil is. So I carried it for about 4 months, and it has sat in the safe since.
Monday, I saw a guy wanting to trade an H&K USP compact .40 with 4 high cap mags a box of ammo and $400 cash for a Kimber Ultra. I had an H&K USP .40 many years ago, and unfortunately was forced to sell it. Now that the job situation has stabilized considerably I would love to own another H&K. With the possibility of another weapons/magazine ban on the horizon I am seriously considering doing this trade. It does come with 4 12 round mags, and 1 10 rounder. The Kimber is only a 6 round mag and the Wilson Combat mag is only a 7 round mag, so no ban on them.
So here is my question, should I go through with this trade, or should I keep the Kimber and just find another USP compact that is for sale?
I do have two other Kimbers in the safe, but I don't own an H&K.

I'd go for it, especially since your kimber isn't being used for what you intended it to be. Both are sweet guns though and I'd be happy with either. But if it has become a safe queen, then might as well pull the trigger and get a little extra cash in your pocket plus another sweet shooting gun. Kimber is great, but if you aren't carrying it, and it's not that fun to shoot( compact 45 usually aren't) then might as well. The offer seems very fair and you may even be getting a better value

Trade a Kimber for a H&K
Hell yeah ;)

I doubt you will find the H&K .40 any less snappy.
That said, it sounds like a reasonable offer.

You've already done it - right? RIGHT?

Okay - I am not a big Kimber fan (not a hater but do not own one)...
I am a previous owner of a HK USP in .40 - I also, as you, traded/sold it a few years back but unlike you I do not regret it. I was just never too big on the USP. I didn't hate it either - just lukewarm on it.

The entire time I was reading your post I was going "don't do it - don't do it" - but you sold me with the last sentence:
#1 - you have two other Kimbers.
#2 - this Kimber in question is not that enjoyable for you to shoot - sits in the safe.
#3 - unlike me, you regret selling your USP & want another.

I also doubt that you will notice too much of a recoil difference though - I remember my .40cal USP being very snappy.
However, I also say in light of all the above - go for it.
You will probably regret not doing this....

Thank you all for your responses. I am feeling better and better about doing this trade this evening. I was just unsure if I was making a mistake or not.
Thanks again.

What gun are you going to buy with the $400? I've never owned or handled either gun so I can't comment on the trade but if you're happy, I'm sure you did fine.
