Hey King cangrats and it sounds like you are starting off on the right foot. Good luck with it!

In addition to the four rules of gun safety, one habbit I've developed is whenever I first pick up a gun for anything other than shooting at the target, is to verify that's unloaded (whether I beleive it to be unloaded or not). If this is always the first thing you do, it makes the four rules of gun safety even a bit safer.
