This really isn't a great place for "Which gun is better for me x or y?"
This is a great place for: "This is my experience level, this is what I am looking for, these are the guns I am considering, which one would you recommend and/or would you recommend something else?"
People will still indicate that choosing a gun is a personal thing and can't be done for you over the internet. However, if your goal is to educate yourself so that you can make the right decision for yourself, then you will find that information here.
want to understand why you are limited to the two guns? Is someone giving you one of the 2? Are you just trying to settle a bet?
I don't have a great deal of experience, however I did a ton of research in choosing my 1st gun. See here:
I went with the Springfied Armory XD(M) 9mm, by the way.
As for your predicament, I'm with the consensus that I would get neither. I've only shot one Taurus (the Millenium) and it was far and away the worst shooting gun of the 10 that I shot. I literally had no idea where the bullet would hit the target at 7-10 yards (other than low).
There are Taurus fans who love their guns and have no issues whatsoever with them, so don't just go by what 3 people have said.
In my opinion, above all, you should shoot the gun you intend to buy. They're not all the same and different people shoot different guns differently.
